Spur Pinion Shaft

Spur pinion shafts combine the gear and shaft into a single integrated component. This design provides more compact assembly than separate gear and shaft configurations, with better rigidity and concentricity. Our factory has manufactured these pinion shafts for 21 years, making them one of our most mature products. The gear section can feature straight or helical teeth with modules from 2 to 8 and tooth counts from 18 to 120.

For straight teeth, the minimum 17 teeth avoid undercutting, following standard gear design rules. Helical teeth use 12° to 15° helix angles with left-hand or right-hand direction markings. Accuracy controls at Grade 7-9 levels, with Grade 8-9 for agricultural applications and Grade 7 for precision reducers. Face widths range from 20 to 70 millimeters, adjustable based on your torque requirements.

Overall shaft length ranges from 120 to 600 millimeters with step shaft diameters from Φ20 to Φ85 millimeters. The input end accepts external splines with module 1.5 to 4, teeth 14 to 36, and 30° pressure angle. At step transitions, we strictly apply R2 to R6 fillets and prohibit sharp corners. This prevents stress concentration that could cause shaft breakage. Radial runout at the gear section controls within 0.03 to 0.08 millimeters, ensuring gear-to-shaft concentricity.

For agricultural applications, we use 20CrMnTi with carburizing and quenching for hard tooth surfaces and tough cores. For light-load applications, 40Cr with quenching and tempering to HB 220-280 works well. Our in-house heat treatment department manages carburizing processes with strict parameter monitoring.
