Open Drive Gear Shaft

Open drive gear shafts are special shaft components featuring axial open slots. These slots work with shift forks to enable axial gear sliding and gear position changes. Modules range from 2.5 to 7 with tooth counts from 22 to 95 and face widths from 25 to 70 millimeters. Overall shaft length spans 130 to 550 millimeters with shaft diameters from Φ22 to Φ80 millimeters.

The open slot is the key feature of this product. Slot widths run 10 to 30 millimeters with depths from 6 to 22 millimeters. Slot roots must have R2 to R6 fillets to prevent crack initiation and propagation under impact loads. Our setup technicians strictly control slot dimensions and root fillets, carefully inspecting each slot before shipment. The slot and gear teeth receive simultaneous carburizing and quenching, achieving HRC 54-62 hardness for wear resistance. All edges are deburred with no sharp corners.

The connection end accepts splines or parallel keys. Splines use module 2 to 5 with teeth 14 to 38 and H/f clearance fit, allowing shift forks to push the shaft smoothly during axial movement within bearing housings. Parallel key widths range from 8 to 24 millimeters. With 21 years of gear manufacturing experience, we are thoroughly familiar with fork slot and spline interface requirements and can verify design validity during drawing review.
